Today I say goodbye

Millions of whispers pass by my side

give me advice and behest to stop thinking about you.

My body filters out the words I want to hear or leave behind

and deep inside my mind,

I can't make a decision.

They keep reassuring me

that everything you said

was the words I only wanted to hear.

Seeing the whole series of events that sent us far apart,

I will never know,

if you really meant every word

that came out of your sweet mouth

or just wanted to please me.

My thoughts slowly come back to me,

making me realize that I was never able to stand up for myself.

so,

starting today,

I ask your full permission

to try to live my life

without ever involving you again.
